Our Vision
Preoperative phase
Our lab advances surgical computer vision by focusing on projects such as semantic segmentation of abdominal CT scans, with multimodal integration for personalized surgical plans. This includes at bedside 3D reconstruction and augmented reality.
Intraoperative phase
We are dedicated to anatomy segmentation, go and no-go zones creation, tool-tissue interactions mapping, and studying gesture maps for surgical procedures. Our goal is to provide surgeons with valuable insights intraoperatively for coaching and safety with integration into robotic platforms.
Postoperative phase
We have several projects that predict postoperative trajectories to capture early complications or disease recurrence using multimodal data, artificial intelligence (AI) agents and digital twins.
External validation of computer vision models
We are interested in collaborating with other groups to perform external validations at Mayo Clinic. We are committed to delivering a comprehensive evaluation in the field of surgical computer vision and AI. Our focus is on testing and deploying solutions that enhance the overall surgical journey for surgeons, trainees and patients.
